Windows, ALT code

Typing N with accent on different language keyboards
The accented n you almost always want is ñ. It is native to the Spanish keyboard, where it has its own dedicated key, so switching layout is by far the quickest method if you type Spanish often.
Spanish keyboard
On a Spanish keyboard, the n with accent Spanish speakers use, ñ, has its own dedicated key, to the right of L. There is no ALT code or dead key needed, it is a full letter of the Spanish alphabet, as in España, niño (child) and mañana (tomorrow).
Latin American keyboard
Latin American Spanish layouts also place ñ as a dedicated key right of L, identical in position to the Spain layout.
Polish keyboard
Polish keyboards produce ń (n-acute) with the right Alt (AltGr) + n, as in koń (horse). This is a different n with accent from the Spanish ñ.
Czech & Slovak keyboards
Czech and Slovak layouts make ň (n-caron) with a dead caron key then n, as in kůň.
US-International keyboard (English speakers)
